Ballet Program Director
Amy has a B.A. Russian Language and M.Ed. in Kinesiology from the University of Minnesota. She taught courses in the Exercise Science Department at Rasmussen College in Exercise Physiology, Biomechanics, and Fitness Theory. She is a certified corrective fitness trainer in Functional Movement Systems. She is also licensed to teach persons with disabilities.
Instructing students in ballet for almost twenty years, Amy was honored to receive her ballet and instructor training at the Kirov Academy in Russia. During her career, Amy had the opportunity to perform with the legendary Maya Plissetskaya of the Bolshoi Ballet, the Branitski Ballet Co., Ballet Arts Minnesota, and the Classical Ballet Academy.
Ms. Shomshak has also appeared with several theatre companies throughout the Twin Cities, including the Guthrie Theatre, Actor’s Theater of Minnesota, the Illusion Theatre and Theatre in the Round. She has had multiple articles published in Dance Teacher Magazine.
