the dance connection - our history

where we began...

The Dance Connection’s history begins in 1993 with a 600 square-foot single room space in the old Rosemount Mall. During this first year, owner Melissa Grannis was the sole instructor to 80 students who braved the small space to take dance lessons Monday through Thursday evenings.

After only one year in the original Rosemount space the Dance Connection found it necessary to move to a larger space next door. And with the help of Melissa’s father, the new space was renovated to incorporate two dance studio spaces and a very small waiting area.

As the number of students grew over the next seven years, Melissa knew it was time to move on to a bigger and better studio space.  So, thanks to her reputation as one of the premier dance schools in the area, Melissa was able to build a new, customized studio in Rosemount, Minnesota.

where we are...

Image from the 2010 Spring RecitalThe Dance Connection’s current location, just off County Road 42 and a block west of South Robert Trail (Hwy. 3) in Rosemount, Minnesota offers three large state-of-the-art dance studio spaces, equipped with suspended spring and anti-slip Marley flooring designed to protect the dancer’s joints and prevent serious injuries.

The Dance Connection’s studios non-dance spaces also offer large viewing windows and ample seating to allow our students’ parents to observe their child’s dance lessons. The studio also offers a retail area and a television viewing area with a VCR and available movies.
