February 2014 Studio Newsletter

MINN-MN-2-13- 322 -17722Bring a Friend to Dance Day!

During the week of February 10-13th you may bring a friend to your dance class/classes with you to show them what you’ve learned and how much fun dance can be. Also, wear your favorite color to dance! They don’t need to have any former dance experience or dance attire. Just tell them to come as they are and plan to have a great time!

DON’T FORGET: Dance Connection Apparel Orders are due by: Saturday, February 8th at 4:30 pm.

Parents’ Information Week is Coming

During the week of February 17-20th, instructors will be giving out information regarding how the costumes should look on picture day and answering any questions that you may have about picture day. You will also get a packet full of information about the ticket ordering process, dress rehearsal schedule, summer class information, etc. Also, please check the spelling of your child’s name on the packet as this is how it will be spelled in the recital program. We want to avoid as many mistakes as possible with name spelling!

March 6-8th (please note there will be no classes on these days). We have posted the detailed class photo schedule online and you can also review the schedule in the studio lobby. The schedule will also be included in the packet you will receive during parents’ week.

Please note the following important studio dates:

  • Spring Break is March 23-30. Classes resume on Monday, March 31st.
  • There will be no Saturday Tap/Jazz technique classes: April 5, April 26, and May 10 due to competitions.

The Dance Connection is producing a recital program book, again this year. It will be a full color and black and white printed book. We hope to provide this to all families who attend the recital free of charge, but in order to do so, we need your help!

If you are interested in advertising or purchasing a ”shout out” or message to publish in the program for your dancer to see, please fill out the form that can be found at the front desk and submit it along with payment to the Dance Connection by April 15.

Competition Line Fundraiser:

The competition lines will be selling Butterbraids again this spring to help cover the cost of competing. More information will be posted on the studio bulletin board when available.

Our annual father/daughter dance is kicking off once again! We are offering this to dancers who are 8 years old & up. All dancers and dads participating must attend four rehearsals (includes dress rehearsal), which will start in May to learn the routine. The theme this year is Elvis and the costume for this dance will be something you already own or can borrow. Each father/daughter couple will only perform in one of the three recital performances. Any father interested in participating must come to the first rehearsal to sign up. There will be no charge for this again this year.

Practice Schedule

  • Wednesday, May 14: 7:45-8:45 pm
  • Sunday, May 18: 1:00-2:30 pm
  • Thursday, May 29: 6:00-7:30 pm

The date for the dress rehearsal at Eastview High School will be available later.

In the meantime, here is a sneak peek at a new camp being offered!

This summer marks the very first Dance Connection Summer Musical Theatre Experience! Kids ages 7 – 17 who sign up will be acting, dancing, and singing in  “Time Warp! – The Musical!”

Want to know more about the show? More about the PLOT?

Here’s the lowdown on “Time Warp! – The Musical!”

The One Direction concert is OVER! What will a cast of Rosemount teens be doing next?  Babysitting, of course!  But what kind of kids are they taking care of? One is a Complainer, one is a Beauty Pageant Queen, and one is, well, a GENIUS. Somehow baby-sitters and kids end up traveling through a TIME WARP.   First stop, 1920’s where they Charleston and Bunny-Hop until they drop!   And funny, how their iPads, iPods and iPhones just don’t’ seem to work anymore. Rosemount teens and kids, even the GENIUS, are not so great at TIME TRAVEL and they get lost. Lost in the 1950’s trying to escape an Attack of the Killer Tomatoes, and finally LOST IN SPACE! Can they get back to 2014? Will they be forever lost in space-land with George Jetson?

Sign up and find out. I promise you won’t be disappointed. But then, I’m a creative weirdo, so who knows what you are getting yourself into?  FUN, creativity, singing, and dancing, that I can promise.

Confirmed dates, times, and fees for the Dance Connection Summer Musical Theatre Experience will be in the newsletter soon!
